Tesla Motors (TSLA) zoomed out of the gate Tuesday, closing at $23.89 per share, 40.5% above its $17 offer price on its first day of public trading.
This closely watched IPO was a success, especially in a day filled with broader market turmoil.

Jaguar’s latest addition to celebrate it’s 75th birthday is the Jaguar XKR 75. The XKR 75 will deliver the same performance and steering control as the XKR. The Jaguar boasts five hundred and thirty horsepower allowing the car to reach zero to one hundred kilometers an hour in just four point four seconds. The exterior features a new Stratus Grey Finish and red Blake calipers, while the interior has been dressed in charcoal leather and carefully stitched up using ivory stitching. The car will be available exclusively from Jaguar dealerships.

Pagani have released a roadster version of their Zonda Cinque supercar which is in turn a street legal version of their Zonda R track car. The carbon fiber titanium monocoque chassis has been redesigned in order to maintain rigidity without a fixed roof. The Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster is powered by a Mercedes AMG V12 engine outputting six hundred and seventy one horsepower giving it a top speed of three hundred and fifty kilometers an hour. Mr. William H. Gates, III is listed as one of the inventors on a recent patent application for an “Electromagnetic engine.” According to the filing at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the contraption somehow “converts mechanical energy of a piston to and from electrical energy during each piston cycle.” There are two engine designs illustrated in the patent, and the basic premise of both is to combine the electrical generating capabilities of a generator with the moving pistons of an internal combustion engine.
Also on the patent filing is a design for a “plasma injector.” Ostensibly a replacement for a spark plug, the plasma injector would kick off “a chemical reaction” (think: combustion cycle) that would be required to get the piston moving in the first place.
